Services and History

U.S. Armed Forces Legacy Park was founded in 2004 by a group of Veterans who wanted to honor the Veterans of their area. Construction began in 2013, and the park opened to the public in 2016.

U.S. Armed Forces Legacy Park is unique in that it is alive. Five days a week, there is at least one Veteran Service Officer present who can assist Veterans and their families with Veteran's benefits and any additional information. They are also there to assist visitors finding the names they are searching for. The park has a library with books, DVDs, and other materials on military history.

A Veterans Service Officer (VSO), is someone who works on behalf of veterans and their dependents and survivors. They are trained and either accredited or certified in the VA claims and appeals process and can help you with Veterans Affairs (VA) related needs. VSOs provide added support, such as helping with emergency funds, coordinating resources, and can help you understand and apply for local and state Veteran benefits, including:

  • Financial Support
  • Education
  • Veteran Readiness and Employment
  • Home Loans
  • Life Insurance
  • Pension
  • Health Care
  • Burial Benefits
  • Records Requests
Okanogan County tax dollars currently support the Okanogan County Veterans Service Office, and an accredited VSO who assists Okanogan County veterans and their families.

U.S. Armed Forces Legacy Park is a place for Veterans and members of the United States Armed Forces to be honored. It is also a place for the Community to learn about and appreciate the sacrifices of our Veterans.
